Stock Smarts - Mock Stock
Participants engage in a simulated stock trading environment to demonstrate their understanding of the stock market, investment strategies, and decision-making skills. Participants must register in advance as individuals or in teams (up to 3 members per team). Participants will be provided with a virtual portfolio containing a set amount of virtual currency (e.g., $100,000). The trading event will last for a specified period (e.g., 1 hours). Participants will make buy and sell decisions based on real-time market data provided during the event. At the end of the trading period, participants will submit their final portfolios for evaluation.

Rules
  • Trading Limitations: Participants may trade stocks, bonds, and commodities as specified in the event guidelines. Certain high-risk options may be restricted.
  • Market Information: Market data will be provided to all participants during the trading period. Participants must rely on this information to make informed decisions.
  • Team Collaboration: Teams may discuss strategies but must ensure that all trading decisions are made collectively.
  • Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the event. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
  • In the event of any disputes that may arise during the competition, the decision made by the organizers will be final and binding.
  • Participants found under the influence of cigarettes, alcohol, or narcotics, or using unfair means, regardless of the event they are participating in or the institution they represent, will be prohibited from participating and asked to leave the premises of the organizing institute.
  • Once registered for an event, under no circumstances the registration fees shall be refunded to the participants in case of absence/ disqualification.
Judging Criteria
  • Portfolio Value: The primary scoring criterion will be the final value of each participant’s or team’s portfolio at the end of the trading period.
  • Investment Strategy: Judges may also consider the strategy employed by participants, including diversification and risk management.
  • Decision-Making: The effectiveness of buy and sell decisions will be evaluated based on the participants’ ability to adapt to market changes.
  • A panel of judges with expertise in finance and trading will evaluate participants based on the scoring criteria.
